Week 5 - Day 5

(10) And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. (11) To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Reading: Some passages in the bible are just so glorious and God-centered and amazing that they lead us just to praise. So, after reading todays short devotion, I encourage you just to worship and praise God through song and prayer! We have put an extra worship song today to help you.

Peter closes this letter to the scattered, persecuted, and suffering church with a reminder of who God is. Do you ever forget who God is and what he has done for us in Christ?  Whether you are in a slump at the plate or you just lost a loved one, we often times forget what is true about God and so today we get a reminder.

We need to focus on who God is and who we are. Our God is the God of all grace. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”

And then there is you. He has called you to his eternal glory in Christ. God has called us to himself, which is a call to eternal glory, which is an expression of his grace. This is a great reminder to us that we didn’t choose God but he chose us (John 15:16)! God has pursued us and drawn us to himself when we were his enemies (John 6:44).

He restores you!

He strengthens you!

And he will keep you!

To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen!

Reflection: Think back to times of heartache and troubles in your life and be reminded how God worked in those situations.

Read Philippians 4:8 and meditate on those things.

Prayer Prompt: Father, you are worthy of our praise forever and ever. Thank you for your grace. Thank you for Christ. Be with us in our sufferings, keeping us focused on the restoration and glories that are coming.
