Week 8 - Day 7

(17) Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. (18) But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

Reading:  Thank you for taking time to go through this journal with Full Count Ministries! We think you will agree that Peter shared invaluable wisdom on who God is and who we are, what we should be doing today, and what we should be striving for in the future.

There are a few things that Peter leaves us with. First, he says “be on your guard”. The world is full of many voices, and evil forces are competing for your attention over God’s voice. Don’t let the world’s philosophy carry you away from the truth of the Gospel. Instead, build on what you have read and heard over the last few weeks, as Peter says, “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Hunger for more. Thirst for Jesus every time you wake up in the morning. See what more he has for you. We know, and it is promised, that he will “answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3). Will you trust that God wants to teach you more?

Finally, and most importantly, Peter proclaims glory to God at the end of this letter. If you find yourself in a rut or in a place of impatience with the circumstances, if you don’t know what to say to God, and if you are searching for answers to your next steps but there isn’t clarity, there is one thing that God is always looking for and is worth every bit of your time every time. God loves your worship. You know, everyone likes encouragement, praise, and positive words. However, God fully deserves the praise. He deserves worship all the time. The angels are praising him day and night in the throne room right now, and we should have a posture of worship too (Revelation 4:8). Worshipping him in your thoughts and in your heart is a pleasing thing you can do at any moment, anywhere, and anytime.

Prayer Prompt: Lord, thank you for Peter’s life and wisdom. Thank you for giving me greater insight into a life that is striving for holiness. Keep me from evil, Lord, when others try to take me away from the truth of who you are. Help me to live a life of worship of you. You deserve all the praise. As I walk with you, help me to understand you better and how I can serve and love you better.
