Devo 7 – Going to the Ends of the Earth
With 7.8 billion people in the world, there is a lot of work to do. Jesus said in Matthew 9, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Maintaining and harvesting crop isn’t an easy task – especially when you’re doing it by hand. There are weeks of pruning and tending. The sun beats down on the worker’s back all day. When it comes harvest time, it gets difficult when you’ve been bending down to get one piece of fruit, and then reaching up high to get the next fruit.
But it is so worth it.
For Full Count Ministries, we have seen men in the US and abroad finally give their lives to Jesus, and we see the amazing transformation take place.
Arcenio, a man from a rural village called Ocote, Nicaragua, heard the gospel when it was presented to his team by a Full Count missions team in Las Mesas at the baseball field. He was captivated by a God who loved him and came to die for him. He was so excited about this message that he shared the gospel with his family. His dad was weeks from passing away when he gave his life to Christ. At the funeral, Arcenio stood up on the tailgate of his truck saying, “At least I know where my dad is spending eternity. You can know too,” and then he proceeded to share the gospel to the whole village. This happened because men decided to give up their comfort and time to go to the lost.
Tater, a high school baseball player from Portland, TN, gave his life to Jesus in a local Hardees because a DGroup leader sacrificed his mornings.
Carlos, a college baseball player from Miami, came to play for Full Count Rhythm in Hendersonville, TN for a summer – but didn’t expect to experience God getting his heart. That happened because a community sacrificed to make space for a new team.
These are three men that get to spend eternity in heaven because of real people’s sacrifices.
But there are fields yet to be worked and harvested all over the globe. These fields aren’t represented by any certain land – but they are groups of people that need to be rescued from their path to death to life! To get this work done, we need to take the way of the cross. We need to give up our lives for them.
We are called to die.
